Rug Pad
The primary function of oriental rug pads is nonskid; it holds the hand-knotted area rug in place and does not let it move. A good-quality rug pad for handmade rugs prolongs the life of the carpet. There are many different types of rug pads for area rugs in the market; we sell two pads that we believe are the best and have been selling them for the past 30 years. Rug pads for hand-knotted oriental rugs are recommended but not necessary.
1- Durahold Rug Pads is our best rug pad, which is about ¼ inch thick and is recommended for all types of oriental and area rugs, especially for the thinner hand-knotted rugs and flatweaves area rugs. The thickness gives the rug a nice quashing feel and helps it last longer. This pad is rubbery on one side and jute on the other side. The rubbery side of the rug pad goes on the floor, and the rug lye on the jute side on hard surfaces. The jute side of the rug pad goes on the floor for wall-to-wall carpeting and the rug lye on the rubbery side. $2.25/SFT
2- Rug Check, a thin green pad that holds the rug and does not let it move. It is made for hard surfaces and does not work on the wall-to-wall carpeting. $1.00/SFT
